The Author
 
Graham Pears was born in the north east of England and joined the police service as a Cadet in 1974. He retired as a Chief Superintendent in 2007. He worked in various operational policing roles in the north east, including Detective Chief Inspector at Newcastle City, Area Commander at Sunderland and Area Commander at Northumberland.
